People will see your page and they will immediately get an idea about who you are. If you see somebody dressing like a homeless, you will assume it’s a homeless. If you see a full suited person with a case on Wall Street you will assume it’s someone working in finance.
The same happens with your Twitter page at first glance: if you have zero or very few followers, people will assume you haven’t gained any trust and you must not have many customers. They might like your page, but they will not follow it as it’s useless to follow a page that has no followers. They will think the page is dead or inactive.
In other words, you need to have some followers already to be able to attract new ones.
That’s right, because when they see that you have a good amount of REAL followers they will assume that those people had a reason to follow your page and they will give it a much bigger credit.
